There are plenty of things to keep a visitor busy, depending on your interests, and the season. As we discover new things, we will post them in here. Each link will open in a new window. Ashland is a unique city, steeped in a rich cultural heritage and able to offer a plethora of outdoor recreational activities. Most famously, it boasts home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the largest classic repertory theater in the country, offering plays from February thru October. The Oregon Caberet Theatre may be more appealing, and Medford hosts the wonderful Craterian Ginger Rogers Theatre . Close by, in Jacksonville the world renown Britt Festival is always popular.
Less than 10 minutes' drive from the B&B, are the boating and fishermans dream - Howard Prairie Lake , and Hyatt Lake both lakes are considered the best Rainbow Trout fishing in the Northwest. Cyclists might want to check out the Siskiyou Velo, they have local rides all year, and maps on their site to help you navigate them Hikers can get onto the Pacific Crest Trail at the Greensprings summit, less than 5 miles away, or try the 4000' (gain) ascent of nearby Mt. McLoughlin . Further afield, is the fabulous Crater Lake National Park which has something for everyone, not least hikers and cyclists. Some really useful trail information over at the Rogue River National Forest Information for both mountain bikers and hikers, whilst the Bear Creek Greenway trail is very popular with recreational cyclists, hikers and joggers. Whitewater afficionados will love the folks at Rogue Klamath River Adventures , they offer more fun than is probably legal. An average 300 inches of snowfall make Mount Ashland the target for winter thrill seekers, so be sure to pack your board/skis/thermals.
